Where Inverness Eagles Begin Their Journey

October 1, 2025
A watercolor design welcomes October with pumpkins and flowers.

From the Office of the Principal

Dear IPS Families,

As we continue working together to support your child’s academic growth in ELA and Math, we want to emphasize the power of collaboration between home and school. If you haven’t yet scheduled a parent-teacher conference, please connect with your child’s teacher as soon as possible. These meetings are a valuable chance to review progress, celebrate achievements, and set meaningful goals for continued success.

At home, we encourage you to carve out regular time for reading and math practice. Daily reading builds fluency, comprehension, and stamina, while consistent practice with basic math facts lays the foundation for solving more complex, multi-step problems.

We’re also thrilled to share our school motto for the year: “Soaring to New Heights!” Our amazing IPS teachers and staff are dedicated to helping every student reach their full potential. We’re confident that, with your support, our students will rise to the challenge and achieve great things this year!

Be sure to mark your calendars for our first Title I Night on November 13, 2025—an exciting evening of learning and community that you won’t want to miss. Stay tuned for more details soon!

Thank you for your continued support and partnership. Here's to a fantastic and productive month at IPS!

Warm regards,

Mrs. Merchant
Principal

Adopt a Classroom or Program – Make a Difference!

The businesses and families pictured below have generously adopted a classroom or program—thank you for your incredible support!

Your contributions are already making a meaningful difference for our students and teachers.

You can help support our students and teachers by adopting a classroom or program (Art, Music, P.E., Tech Lab, or Media Center) with a tax-deductible donation of $100 or more.

Families, businesses, or even groups of friends can join together to adopt a class or program. Your generous support allows teachers to purchase special materials or fund experiences that go beyond the regular classroom budget.

To arrange your adoption or learn more, please contact Mrs. Forehand at (352) 726-2632.

Thank you for helping us enhance learning opportunities at IPS! We truly appreciate your partnership and commitment to our school community.

License Scanning Reminder

As part of our ongoing commitment to student safety, all visitors to IPS are required to have their driver's license scanned through our security system prior to entering the building.

Please note that, due to a recent system reset, all previously scanned licenses have been removed from our records.

As a result, everyone will need to have their license rescanned, even if you completed this process earlier in the school year.

To help avoid delays during upcoming school events—we strongly encourage families to stop by the front office in advance to complete the scanning process.

License scanning is available Monday through Friday, from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM.

Thank you for your cooperation in helping us provide a safe and welcoming environment for all IPS students, staff, and families.

English Language Learners

ELL is a program of English Language instruction designed to help non-English speakers acquire English by using special instructional strategies with students at all levels: elementary, middle, and high school. Citrus County Public Schools utilize the mainstream/inclusion model. Research indicates it takes 1-1/2 to 2 years to learn social forms of English and 3 to 5 to learn academic English.

School Advisory Council (SAC)

The School Advisory Council (SAC) meets quarterly on Mondays from 4:15 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. All parents, students, staff, and community members are welcome—and encouraged—to attend. You do not need to be a voting member to participate.

Our next meeting is October 27, 2025.

SAC plays an important role in shaping the direction of our school, and your voice can make a real difference. We strongly encourage you to join us and be part of this collaborative team!

Title I News

Research continues to confirm that parents are a vital part of the educational process and of the educational experiences of their children. When school personnel and families work together, relationships are developed that support learning and children are provided an enhanced opportunity for success in school and throughout life. As a parent, you play an important role in your child’s education. We encourage parents to be involved as much as possible. Volunteering, mentoring, and attending parent conferences are all parent involvement activities. Gain information and be part of the decision making process by joining advisory committees at the school and district level.
